The two teams are coming off nail biting finishes from their last games – the home team escaped with a win while the away team suffered a loss. Being on the wrong side of close games can often cost teams a play-off spot in the IPL and the Delhi Daredevils (DD) have already been a victim of it last year. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) nearly got out of jail after they were cruising to a win at one stage in their previous game.

David Warner showed tremendous patience on a tough wicket in the previous game and was well supported by Naman Ojha, who finally came good with the bat. Rashid Khan had an off day with the ball but was well backed up Mohammed Nabi, who was impressive on debut. Bhuvneshwar Kumar continued to show to people how much he has improved as a bowler and a five wicket haul which included a few big names bears testimony to that fact. Siddarth Kaul bowled economically for his first game of the season while Barinder Sran struggled for control. Delhi lost their momentum while batting as Karun Nair consumed far too many balls to score his runs. The pressure of failures was mounting on him and this knock wouldn’t have done his confidence a world of good. Mohammed Shami returned at the expense of Shahbaz Nadeem but was far too expensive for his captain’s liking. The standout player was once again Rishabh Pant and the manner in which he has batted should earn him a national call up sooner rather than later.

Last season, Delhi won both the encounters and will have to get Warner out early if they are to stand a chance to repeat their feat. On paper, the Daredevils have a stronger bowling attack while the Sunrisers boast of a superior batting line up. The one which fares better should take the match.
