2008 Indian Premier League (IPL) champions the Rajasthan Royals have signed former Indian Cricket League (ICL) star Abhishek Jhunjhunwala.
Jhunjhunwala scored 615 for the Royal Bengal Tigers in the unofficial Twenty20 league and he, along with Faiz Fazal, who has also been picked up by the Royals, becomes the first player from the ICL to earn a call-up by the IPL.
Jhunjhunwala, an attacking batsman and occasional off-spinner, was playing club cricket in Essex when he was summoned for a week-long camp held by the Royals ahead of their British Asian Cup match with Middlesex on 6th July.
Jhunjhunwala also played for Bengal in first-class and limited overs cricket before he signed with the ICL.
