Tamim Iqbal has undergone wrist surgery which will rule him out of the upcoming five-match One-Day International series against New Zealand while former captain Mohammad Ashraful has been dropped.

Tamim had been struggling with the wrist problem throughout the year and is now recovering after a successful operation and he is replaced in the squad by fellow opening batsman Shahriar Nafees.

Ashraful continues to struggle for runs and he has been left out as the Bangladesh selectors preferring Jahurul Islam and Roqibul Hasan as specialist batsmen.

The series begins on 5th October and runs to 17th October with all five matches taking place in Mirpur.
