Ireland Women will play their Pakistani and South African counterparts in a series of One-Day and Twenty20 Internationals hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board in Qatar in January.
The two tri-series events will see the three sides meet each other twice in both formats before the ODI final on 17th January and the T20I final on 24th January.
The competitions will provide all three sides with valuable match practice ahead of the ICC Women's World Twenty20 in Bangladesh in March, where Ireland will be making their first appearance having qualified earlier this year.
"After months of indoor training, bowling machines and the inside of a gym, the players are looking forward to getting back outdoors and playing some cricket," Ireland captain Isobel Joyce said.
"It will be tough going from stepping off the plane in Qatar to playing back to back matches against South Africa and Pakistan, but it seems like the perfect way to start 2014 - in at the deep end," she added.
However, Ireland have been put through their paces ahead of what is an important year for them and Joyce hopes they will be rewarded for their efforts.
"We've never had such a busy off season with the squad working hard to get into good shape so hopefully that will pay off in Qatar," she said.
"With one or two players unavailable due to work or school, this tour will be a good opportunity to see what some other players can do ahead of the T20 World Cup and try to figure out the best combinations for that tournament."
Uncapped Kate McKenna and Jennifer Gray are included in the squad which also boasts the experience of Clare Shillington, as well as Joyce and her twin sister Cecelia.
