The Irish team made its World Cup debut with a nail-biting tie against Zimbabwe powered by an unbeaten 115 off 139 balls by Jeremy Bray. Later, they caused a major upset when they outsmarted Pakistan by three wickets based on Duckworth-Lewis method. However, they could not progress beyond the Super Eights and just registered a solitary win in the seven games played.
