Jacob Oram and Chris Martin will play no part in the Twenty20 International between New Zealand and South Africa in Johannesburg, captain Daniel Vettori revealed in a news conference.

Already missing Shane Bond and Craig Cumming through injury, Oram strained a hamstring in the second Test while Martin is suffering with a stomach virus.

"The one-day internationals are the most important games ahead, so hopefully Jacob will be able to play in those," Vettori said.

After the Kiwis were hammered 2-0 in the Test series, recording defeats of 358 runs and an innings and 59, Vettori believes the shorter forms of the game offer his side a chance to hit back.

"It's a chance for us to redeem ourselves," he added. "We've taken solace in the fact that we've been pretty good operators in twenty20 and one-day cricket over the last few years.

"The guys know their one-day games pretty well and the fact we had the recent Twenty20 World Cup here, where we made the semis and South Africa did not, and the guys got a good feel for the pitches will be of assistance to us as well," Vettori said.
