Gran Melia Jakarta hosted the Jakarta Cricket Association (JCA) Annual Dinner and Awards Night 2012 at the Mutiara Ballroom.

The event featured Australian cricket legends Tom Moody, Damien Martyn, and Charlie Burke. Also present were Ambassador of Australia to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Greg Moriarty; Ambassador of The United Kingdom, H.E. Mr. Mark Canning; Ambassador of New Zealand, H.E. Mr. David Taylor; and Ambassador of India, H.E. Mr. Gurjit Singh.

All guests were welcomed to Mutiara Ballroom and the Gala Dinner was opened by JCA President Suresh Subramanian.

A fashion show lit up the room before and after the dinner while a fundraising auction was held following Tom and Damien’s session as guest speakers.

The funds raised are intended to develop the local cricketing infrastructure, coaching and give support for local teams to participate in international tournaments, including the Senayan Tigers who were also invited.

The Japan Cricket Association (JCA) will send its men's and women's cricket teams on tour in the United Kingdom in April and May. The tour marks the 150th anniversary of the first cricket match played in Japan, lasts from 27th April to 5th May and takes in games in London, Glasgow, Stirlin and Edinburgh.
Afghanistan have become the latest country to benefit from the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Targeted Assistance and Performance Programme (TAPP) with a grant of $US 422,000. The funding will go towards the development of the National Cricket Academy in Kabul and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) are the seventh country to benefit from the initiative.
Papua New Guinea have qualified for the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, which will take place later this year, by virtue of winning the ICC East-Asia Pacific Championship in Auckland. Having dominated the tournament, they beat Vanuatu by 38 runs in the final, after Cook Islands, Indonesia, Japan, Samoa had fallen by the wayside.
Cricket associations and New York advertising agencies usually do not have much in common, however it's the love of cricket that has brought together the Japan Cricket Association and ad agency Imperial Woodpecker. The relationship between the two organisations is still going strong after three years, even though they have never met in person. Imperial Woodpecker's logo is proudly displayed on the Japan men's team uniform and many opposition teams have named the Japan side "the woodpeckers" because of it.
Sano Cricket Club has successfully defend the SriLankan Airlines Japan Cup over the long weekend of October 6th – 8th. Five teams from around Japan converged at the Sano cricket grounds, and Tanuma High School, over the weekend to play in the tough competition. Teams included Sano CC, Nagano Hokuriku Region, University XI, Wyverns CC and Kansai Region.
SriLankan Airlines has signed a sponsorship deal to support Japan’s National Championship, which is named the "SriLankan Airlines Japan Cup" under the agreement. SriLankan Airliese has sponsored the event for the past two years and the new agreement will cover the 2012 event as well.
