Nasir Jamshed earned a place in the history books with a third consecutive century for Pakistan against India which set up a 85 run win in the second One-Day International in Kolkata.

Jamshed's 106 saw him emulate Javed Miandad - the last man to achieve the feat - and Pakistan's deserved victory put them into an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez (76) put on 141 for the opening wicket but an excellent spell from Ravi Jadeja (3-41) stalled their progress and they were bowled out for 250 as Ishant Sharma chipped in with three for 34.

However, India failed to build on a decent start themselves and lost wickets steadily during their run chase, Saeed Ajmal applying the coup de grace with three in one over late on to bowl India out for 165.

Jadeja had earlier returned a double-wicket maiden but his efforts proved in vain - Ajmal prevailing in the battle of the spinners with figures of 3-20.

A fine effort in the field from Pakistan included two sharp stumpings and a leg-side grab from wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal which meant two early overthrows which travelled to the boundary were rendered meaningless.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni top scored for India with 54 not out, stranded at the non-striker's end as wickets tumbled at the other.
