Jermaine Lawson To Be Leicestershire's Latest Kolpak

Jermaine Lawson is set to join the ranks of Kolpak players plying their trade at Leicestershire this season, with the Jamaican 26-year-old taking advantage of the ruling which means he will not be classed as an overseas player.

Lawson played 13 Tests for the West Indies and joins fellow West Indians Wavell Hinds (Derbyshire) and Pedro Collins (Surrey) on the 2008 county circuit.

Lawson was banned from bowling in Tests soon after he took seven for 78 against Australia and his action was questioned.

However, Leicestershire head coach Tim Boon is reportedly unconcerned about questions surrounding Lawson and his action.

"I'm pretty confident he's fine. He's been bowling for Jamaica. He's going to be a valuable member to our team," he told BBC Radio.
