John Mooney will captain Ireland when they travel to the Netherlands and bid to retain their European 'A' Championship title in Amsterdam and Rotterdam next month.

Ireland A will compete in the tournament which takes place from 11th to 13th August, playing against Denmark A, Scotland A and the Netherlands A.

"It's a chance for the guys to impress, particularly the bowlers," senior coach Phil Simmons said.

"We have an Intercontinental Cup game and two ODI's in Scotland after the championships, and then we're straight in to the RSA Challenge ODI with England on August 27. A few good performances in Holland, and they could well be in line for promotion to the senior squad. I'm sure that will be a great motivation for them."

Ireland: John Mooney, Andrew Balbirnie, Andrew Britton, George Dockrell, Phil Eaglestone, Shane Getkate, James Hall, Nigel Jones, Gary Kidd, Fintan McAllister, Andrew Poynter, Eddie Richardson, Paul Stirling, Reinhardt Strydom
