Cricket Australia (CA) have announced that Mitchell Johnson will return to the Australia squad at the expense of Ryan Harris for the next two One Day Internationals against South Africa.

Left-arm pace bowler Johnson was rested for the opening two matches with Peter Siddle and then Harris called up in his place and he now returns with the series tied at 1-1.

CA also confirmed that in Michael Clarke's continued absence, Michael Hussey will take over as vice-captain. Clarke has a thumb injury and is not expected to be fit until the ODI series against New Zealand in February.

National Selection Panel chairman Andrew Hilditch explained, ""The only change the National Selection Panel has made to the squad is Mitchell Johnson returning after having his workload managed for the two KFC Twenty20 Internationals and the first two Commonwealth Bank Series games.

"With Mitchell returning, the unfortunate fast bowler to depart the squad is Ryan Harris. From a positive point of view for Ryan, we have been very impressed with his efforts and attitude during limited opportunities and we are certain he will continue to push for Australian selection in the future."

Hilditch also confirmed that none of the players in the squad would be released to take part in the remaining KFC Twenty20 Big Bash fixtures.

The third ODI against South Africa takes place in Sydney on January 23rd.
