Jon Lewis Called Up As Cover For England's Bowlers

Gloucestershire's Jonathan Lewis has been drafted into England's one-day squad as cover for injured bowlers Ryan Sidebottom and Andrew Flintoff.

Sidebottom continues his recovery from a side strain that he picked up in the final Test at The Brit Oval, while it was revealed today that Flintoff has received a cortisone injection to deal with inflammation in his knee, which stiffened up during England's narrow defeat to India in Bristol.

Flintoff underwent a scan and will continue to be assessed by the England medical team. Lewis, who travelled to the Caribbean as part of England's World Cup squad before returning home, is set to remain with the squad for the next two one-day internationals.

England won the first match of the seven game NatWest Series at The Rose Bowl by 104 runs before losing the second game by nine runs. The third match takes place at Edgbaston on Bank Holiday Monday.
