JTB, Air Jamaica And Cricket World® Sign Three-Year Media Agreement

24 May 2007
JTB and Air Jamaica have signed a three year co-operation agreement with Cricket World® magazine and www.cricketworld.com website to promote Jamaica as a holiday and cricketing destination.

Alastair Symondson, Head of Media at Cricket World®, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Jamaica Tourist Board and Air Jamaica and will be looking forward to promoting Jamaica through a range of our media platforms including Cricket World® Magazine, Website, Internet TV and Radio. As part of the agreement we are also pleased to announce that the Jamaica Tourist Board and Air Jamaica will be partner sponsors of the Cricket World® Spirit of Commerce 20/20 Corporate Cup.

Cricket, more than any other sport, has traditionally been associated with the virtues of honesty, integrity, fair play and teamwork. Upholding and promoting the positive values associated with the spirit of cricket is a key objective of the sports governing body.

The Spirit of Commerce invites leading companies to embrace these values and apply them to the way they run their business, while celebrating the game of cricket and participating in the first International Corporate 20/20 cricket competition.

We have 24 teams committed to the 2007 competition, in the UK and Ireland, and we will complete the entries on May 31th – individuals who have participated in the competition will be invited, as part of a specially selected squad, to Jamaica, to take part in the Air Jamaica Invitational 20/20 festival in November. It is our ambition to have 64 teams taking part in competition from all over the world by year three ”

David Shields of the Jamaica Tourist Board said: "I'm very pleased to have signed this agreement with Cricket World® to promote Jamaica as a holiday and cricketing destination. We are very much looking forward to hosting the Air Jamaica Invitational 20/20 festival in November and utilizing the magnificent cricket facilities we now have on offer in Jamaica. ”
