Second Test, Abu Dhabi, day one
Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers both scored centuries as South Africa recovered from a position of 33 for three to close day one of the second and final Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on 311 for five.
After losing Graeme Smith, Alviro Petersen and Hashim Amla early on, Kallis hit 105 and de Villiers an unbeaten 120, the pair putting on 179 for the fourth wicket to ensure South Africa closed the day on top.
Test debutant Tanvir Ahmed made the early inroads by having Smith (10) and Amla (4) caught by wicket-keeper Adnan Akmal and Petersen caught by Misbah-ul-Haq for two.
He would later bowl Kallis to end the fourth-wicket partnership and pick up figures of four for 67 while the other batsman to be dismissed was Ashwell Prince, who was caught by Asad Shafiq off off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez.
Shafiq is also making his debut while Mohammad Sami was recalled with Wahab Riaz, Saeed Ajmal and Imran Farhat miss out following the drawn opening match in Dubai.
