Jacques Kallis is to captain South Africa in the third and final Test against Australia in Cape Town to allow Ashwell Prince to concentrate on his new role of opening the innings.
Prince, the side's designated vice-captain, was originally named to lead the team in the absence of Graeme Smith, who suffered a broken finger in the second Test in Durban.
However, with an all-new opening partnership of Prince and new cap Imraan Khan set to make its debut at Newlands, the South African team management decided to hand the leadership of the side to Kallis.
Kallis also captained South Africa in a Test match for the first time in Johannesburg in 2006 when Smith was absent.
