Delhi batsman Kedar Jadhav has been recalled in the 17-member Indian squad for the upcoming One-Day International series against South Africa.
Jadhav missed the limited-overs leg against Sri Lanka at home due to a hamstring injury but now has reclaimed his spot at the expense of Lokesh Rahul, who looked in good form during the ongoing T20I series against Thisara Perera's side.
Shardul Thakur also makes a comeback into the squad after making recovery from a shoulder injury while Mohammad Shami has been favoured to Umesh Yadav with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah continuing to be the frontline options.
Regular skipper Virat Kohli as expected will lead the squad after missing out on the series against Sri Lanka due to his wedding commitments.
"Shardul will be playing shortly. In fact he will be playing from January 1. Kedar will be alright by the start of the series," said chief selector MSK Prasad.
"He will be playing the T20 domestic games shortly," Prasad, the chief selector, said of the two players returning from their injuries.
"Announcing the team one month before will also help them prepare well. ODI specialists will have enough time to prepare and it's likely they will go in a bit early."
Following a three-match Test series, India and South Africa will also lock horns in six ODIs and three T20Is between 1st and 24th February.
