Hard-hitting South African all-rounder Justin Kemp is to replace Sri Lankan Thilan Thushara in the Chennai Super Kings' squad for the Champions League Twenty20, which gets underway later this week.
Kemp, who was signed by the Super Kings ahead of their title-winning 2010 Indian Premier League campaign, has been drafted in after Thushara picked up a groin injury while playing for Sri Lanka A.
Kemp played five matches for the Super Kings during the 2010 tournament, held in India, taking three for 12 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in a group game.
His inclusion means there will be seven South African players featuring for IPL franchises in the Champions League, held in South Africa for the first time after the inaugural event was hosted by India.
Kemp joins Chennai team-mate Albie Morkel, JP Duminy and Ryan McLaren of the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore trio Mark Boucher, Jacques Kallis and Dillon du Preez.
Chennai open their campaign against the Central Districts on Saturday 11th September. The final is on 26th September at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
