Kent Denied Chance Against Sri Lanka A By Rain

It was a familiar tale at Canterbury, where the touring Sri Lanka 'A' team were playing Kent, as rain caused the game to abandoned with Kent just four overs into their run chase.

Having reached 7 without loss in pursuit of 260 to win, the umpires took the players off and it was deemed too bad to continue the game.

Earlier, a below full-strength Kent side bowled well to restrict the Sri Lankans, although Mahela Udawatte (67) and Gayan Wijekoon (51 not out) batted cleverly to guide them to a total of 259 for 8 from their 50 overs.

Martin Van Jaarsveld took three wickets for 43 runs and there were two wickets apiece for James Tredwell and Tom Parsons.

The 'A' team tour continues when they make a relatively short trip to Hove to take on Sussex, fresh from drawing with India and soundly beating Durham, in a three-day match.
