Kent have signed Sri Lankan leg-spinner Malinga Bandara as their overseas player for the second half of the 2010 season when he will replace Australian bowler Stuart Clark.
Bandara, 30, will join the club in time for the Friends Provident Twenty20 Cup. The leg-spinner has played eight Tests, 31 One-Day Internationals and four Twenty20 Internationals for Sri Lanka and also picked up 392 first-class wickets.
Team director Paul Farbrace told the club's official website (www.kentccc.com): “I’m absolutely delighted that such a high quality cricketer has chosen to join Kent. I’m thrilled at the prospect of him teaming up with James Tredwell and creating a high quality spin attack. Malinga is an experienced cricketer and will add great knowledge to our team; both on and off the field.”
Bandara also played a season in English cricket in 2005 when he represented Gloucestershire.
