Kirby Signs Contract Extension At Gloucestershire

Pace bowler Steve Kirby has signed a new contract with Gloucestershire, becoming the second player in two days to extend his stay after Alex Gidman signed a new contract yesterday.

"I am absolutely delighted to be signing a long term contract at Gloucestershire," Kirby said. "This has not been any easy decision. In fact, it is the toughest decision of my life. A major factor has been my family. They are very settled in Bristol and Glos are a strong family unit and look after them very well.

"The other massive factor has been the appointment of John Bracewell as Director of Cricket. I am really looking forward to working with him. I am still massively ambitious to play for England and I do feel he can help me continue to improve. With John Bracewell and the Clubs intent to strengthen the squad I believe there are exciting times ahead for Gloucestershire over the next few years and really looking forward to being part of it."

Chief Executive, Tom Richardson said: "Steve had bowled very well for the Club in his four seasons with us. It is really good that he is continuing with us. He is an integral and very important part of the Club as we move forward and we are delighted he has pledged his future with us."
