New Zealand Cricket (NZC) have confirmed that all-rounder Jacob Oram is to return home from Sri Lanka after suffering a knee injury.
He has a patella problem and despite intensive treatment, he will be unable to play any further part in the One-Day International tri-series as his knee is preventing him bowling.
The problem also means he may be forced to miss the Champions League Twenty20, depending on the results of further assessment in New Zealand.
“Jake had done everything possible to try and get ready for the remaining matches in the tri-series but Jake and the medical team had insufficient time to get fully fit," coach Mark Greatbatch told www.blackcaps.co.nz.
“At this stage it is unclear how severe the injury is and he will return to New Zealand for further assessment and rehabilitation.”
He is due to represent the Central Districts in the Champions League, which gets underway on 10th September in South Africa.
