Champions League T20, Bangalore

Kolkata Knight Riders 83-1 (Gambhir 33no) beat
Warriors 155-4 (Ingram 61) by 22 runs (D/L)
Champions League T20, Bangalore
Scorecard

The Kolkata Knight Riders beat Warriors by 22-runs in a rain-shortened Champions League Twenty20  match in Bangalore.

The Warriors lost Ashwell Prince for four in the second over but a second-wicket stand of 80 between Jon-Jon Smuts (46 from 43 balls) and Colin Ingram got them back into the box seats.

Ingram went on to make 61 from only 47 balls which, along with a sprightly 38 not out from Mark Boucher, got them up to 155 for four at the end of their 20 overs. Brett Lee (one for 25) and Jacques Kallis (one for 33) were the pick of the Kolkata attack.

Kallis and Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir took the Knight Riders to 83 for one after nine overs in their reply, before the rain arrived and no further play was possible. Kallis ended unbeaten on 31 from 19 balls, with Gambhir unbeaten on 33 from 23 as Kolkata were adjudged the victors via the Duckworth/Lewis method.

Earlier, South Australia’s match against Somerset was abandoned without a ball bowled as a persistent band of rain hung across the ground all afternoon and into the early evening.
