Scorecard from Hyderabad
Bangalore Royal Challengers won by five wickets

Vinay Kumar took three for 27 and Balachandra Akhil hit 27 runs from seven balls as the Bangalore Royal Challengers beat the Deccan Chargers by five wickets in game 51 of the Indian Premier League in Hyderabad.

The Royal Challengers were bowled out for 165 before Akhil's fireworks saw his side score 171 for five in 19 overs.

Adam Gilchrist (46) and Herschelle Gibbs (47) got the home side off to a flying start, adding 101 in 68 balls before Gibbs was stumped by Shreevats Goswami off of Anil Kumble.

Vinay Kumar struck to remove Gilchrist, Rohit Sharma (17) and Yalaka Venugopal Rao (26), three of the Chargers' more accomplished batsmen.

Thereafter, two run outs, and two for 19 from Dale Steyn saw the Chargers bowled out.

Jacques Kallis (31), Misbah-ul-Haq (34) and captain Rahul Dravid (31) fired for the Challengers before Cameron White (31 not out) combined with Akhil in a stand of 30 to bring home the match.

Akhil hammered three sixes and two fours in a breathtaking display at the death. Dr. Vijay Mallya, owner of the Royal Challengers saw his Grand Prix team, Force India, narrowly miss out on world championship points at Monaco but at least had the consolation of a win for his cricket team.

Neither side have any chance of further progress in the tournament.
