Lancashire County Cricket Club Rewarded For Player Care

Lancashire County Cricket Club has been awarded a Performance Related Fee of £20,000 as part of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s 2006 Injured Players Medical Review (IPM).

The primary aim of this fee is to support the employment of a full-time Strengthening and Conditioning Coach to work with England’s centrally contracted Players, Development Squad and National Academy players. This extra support will also encompass all year round Physiotherapy cover.

During this Review, the ECB conducted an Audit of the Medical and Physiotherapy provisions that each County has for England Contracted Players and Lancashire came out on top.

David Roberts says; “It has taken us (David Roberts Physiotherapy and Lancashire County Cricket Club) 6 years to reach the point we are at today in providing the best medical and physiotherapy support for players throughout the Club. This acknowledgment is reward for the Club’s proactive approach towards player health and well-being.”

The Club has moved quickly in firming up this extra resource and has added Sam Byrne to the Club’s Physiotherapy team. Sam has International Cricket experience, having recently worked with the Bangladeshi national team as their Strengthening and Conditioning Coach.

Lancashire County Cricket Club has traditionally been well represented on a National level and this extra medical and physiotherapy assistance can only reap long term benefits for the Players, the Club and of course England.
