Lancashire Lightning Host Sussex Sharks Under Lights

Brad Hodge will make his last appearance of the season for the Club during Lancashire Lightning’s NatWest Pro40 match against the Sussex Sharks at Old Trafford (Tues 14th August).

Hodge departs for Australia on Wednesday to take part in a 3-week training camp ahead of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup and will return to the North West at the start of next season as the Club’s only overseas player. Replacing Hodge for the remainder of the season will be Indian Test Batsman, VVS Laxman. Laxman is expected to be at Old Trafford tomorrow evening to watch his new team mates, before making his debut against Hampshire in the LV County Championship starting 21st August.

Pending England Selection, tomorrow night could also be the last appearance of Andrew Flintoff in Lancashire colours this season. “Freddie” has been named in both England’s One Day International squad to face India and the ICC Twenty20 World Cup final 15. The England Selectors have made it clear that they will only select Andrew if the ECB Medical Team believes he is ready, and following his outstanding performance for Lancashire in the recent Roses Championship clash, it can’t be too long before he pulls on the England Shirt again.

Sussex Sharks come into this fixture with two consecutive Pro40 League wins at Hove over Gloucestershire and Essex, but Lancashire will be looking to continue the impressive form they showed at Headingley last week.
