Lancashire have moved to replace Farveez Maharoof with Pakistan quick bowler Junaid Khan in time for the remainder of their Friends Life t20 campaign.
Maharoof was added to Sri Lanka's Test squad when Nuwan Pradeep was ruled out through injury and has played in both Tests against England.
Left-armer Junaid has played seven One-Day Internationals for Pakistan, most recently during his side's tour of the West Indies, where was also included in the Test squad.
"Junaid is a hot prospect who was recommended to us by Wasim Akram," Lancashire Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said.
"He is initially with us for our Friends Life t20 campaign but there may be some scope for him to feature in our LV= County Championship squad later in the summer.
"Like Farveez Maharoof, Junaid joins us on modest terms with an incentive to play county cricket in the hope of furthering his international ambitions."
Head Coach Peter Moores added: “"unaid is an extremely talented cricketer who will supplement our seam attack. He bowls with good pace and variation and we look forward to working with him."
