Lancashire Squad Announced To Face Durham

Lancashire Cricket Manager Mike Watkinson has named a 13-man squad to travel to Durham for the LV County Championship match at Chester-le-Street starting Wednesday (6-9 April).

Lancashire has been hit by a mini injury crisis, with Andrew Flintoff (ankle) and Sajid Mahmood (Double Hernia) ruled out and question marks still surround the fitness of Glen Chapple and Mal Loye, whom both missed last week’s Championship match at Sussex.

Chapple has been out of action for the past fortnight with a Hamstring Strain, while Loye has struggled with Back Spasms.

Bowler James Anderson is on standby for the England team, and if required, the “like-for-like” substitute rule will be used as it was during Lancashire’s match against Worcestershire in May.

Oliver Newby has been rewarded for his impressive form in the Seconds securing a call up to the First Team squad. Newby has been the pick of the fast bowlers for Gary Yates’ side and has also shown his flair with the bat, scoring important runs as well.
