South African fast bowler Charl Langeveldt will be returning to Derbyshire where he will join compatriot Loots Bosman as an overseas player for the Friends Provident t20 campaign.
Langeveldt enjoyed a spell with Derby in 2008, where he took 55 first-class wickets and 79 wickets in all forms of the game which preceded a return to playing for his country.
Langeveldt took 11 wickets in the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 despite South Africa failing to reach the semi-finals and he boasts an economy rate in Twenty20 Internationals of 7.30.
The deal means that Australian Chris Rogers will take a break during the competition and Greg Smith will lead Derbyshire in his absence.
Langeveldt, who has also previously represented Somerset in county cricket, becomes Derbyshire's second Twenty20 signing in 24 hours after they also snapped up Wes Durston for the competition.
