Lara, Donald & Reeve To Play Again At Edgbaston

Three Warwickshire greats have agreed to play in the Warwickshire Greatest Ever XI against a PCA Masters XI at Edgbaston on 31 August. Current England fast bowling coach Allan Donald, West Indian and Warwickshire batting genius Brian Lara and inspirational former club captain Dermot Reeve, will all be pulling on Bears shirts in what promises to be an explosive Twenty20 match-up.

The trio will join a host of other Warwickshire and cricket legends as honoured guests at the Gala Dinner that evening, also at Edgbaston. The day is being held to celebrate the club’s 125th year and its Greatest Ever players. The evening will culminate with the naming of Warwickshire’s Greatest Ever XI.

Allan, Brian and Dermot are etched in the Club’s history books and have all been nominated in their respective categories. Warwickshire fans have been voting for their favourite players on voting forms around the club and on the website at www.greatestever.com/wccc. Their stats and profiles can also be viewed on-line.

“Playing at Edgbaston again is going to be a very special day - especially with all the guys that are making themselves available. It will be quite something and will bring back memories of some of my greatest ever years with the club,” said Allan Donald. “I had a wonderful time at Warwickshire and consider it an honour to have played for the club. I’m really looking forward to knocking over some of the ex-internationals wickets’ again in Warwickshire colours and renewing some old rivalries and friendships. To play in front of the Edgbaston crowd once more will be a real honour.”
