12th match, Big Bash League, Adelaide
A solid bowling performance led by a three-wicket haul from Ben Laughlin helped Adelaide Strikers complete a 56-run victory while defending 147 against Brisbane Heat in the 12th game of the Big Bash League at Adelaide Oval.
Jimmy Peirson (7), Chris Lynn (0), Joe Burns (1) and Alex Ross (1) all fell in single digits while Brendon McCullum (15) struggled in his 20-ball knock as Brisbane Heat were reduced to 56 for six at the halfway mark.
From there on they hardly recovered with only Ben Cutting (14) and Cameron Gannon (23) showing some resistance and were bowled out for 91 runs in 16.2 overs.
Laughlin (3-11) was the pick of the Adelaide bowlers with a three wicket haul while Rashid Khan (2-19) and Michael Neser (2-7) snared two wickets apiece.
Earlier, Jake Weatherald (20) provided a blistering start to the Adelaide innings but double strikes from Yasir Shah (2-18) and Josh Lalor (3-40) pegged the home side back as they were reduced to 76 for five before Neser (40 not out) played a decisive 26-ball unbeaten knock to push the total to 147 for seven in the 20 overs.
