Leek United is helping to bring the exciting spectator sport of Twenty20 cricket to Staffordshire for its professional debut this month.

The Society is a main sponsor of the Derbyshire vs Warwickshire Friends Life T20 match, to be played at Leek Cricket Club on Sunday, 26 June.

Leek was chosen to host its inaugural Twenty20 fixture at the Highfield ground following the success of a Clydesdale Bank 40 match there between Derbyshire and Essex in May 2010.

And as part of its ongoing sponsorship deal with Leek Cricket Club, Leek United is proud to give its backing to what is set to be an exciting afternoon for local cricket fans.

Society Chief Executive Kevin Wilson commented: “Twenty20 has become one of the most popular spectator sports in the world, and we’re delighted to be able to extend our sponsorship for what should be a terrific event.”

Leek CC Chairman Brian Mellor added: “We’re very proud to have been chosen to host the game and, as always, we are indebted to our local sponsors – of which Leek United is the longest standing – without whom this would just not be possible.”

The Derbyshire-Warwickshire match commences at Highfield at 12 noon on 26 June.
