Leicestershire CCC has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Marston’s.
The deal will see Marston’s, brewer of Marston’s Pedigree, the official beer of England cricket, have pouring rights at the Grace Road club, plus its name on the team’s Clydesdale Bank 40-over kits.
On top of this activity, the brewer has also developed plans to host a series of competitions designed to involve Leicestershire supporters in the sponsorship.
Marston’s Marketing Director Peter Jackson said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring a key local club like Leicestershire CCC – an important area for Marston’s and our flagship brand, Pedigree.
“We are committed to supporting and developing English cricket at all levels - from grass roots level, right up to first class play in test match grounds.
“Marston’s Pedigree and cricket is a prize-winning combination and we wish Leicestershire all the best for the season.”
The agreement will add to the sponsorship Marston’s already has at test match grounds across the UK including Lord’s, the Oval and Edgbaston.
Leicestershire CCC named Matthew Hoggard as new captain for the 2010 season and Hoggy is Marston’s long-standing brand ambassador.
David Smith CEO of Leicestershire CCC said: “We’re delighted to welcome Marston’s on board. We believe that the brewer’s experience across a number of first class counties will be invaluable in our efforts to increase sales at Grace Road especially with eight home t20 games this summer.”
