Magoffin Announced As Worcestershire Overseas Player
Australian Steve Magoffin has been named as the second overseas player joining Worcestershire in two days after the announcement that West Indian Fidel Edwards would also be joining.
Magoffin will play for the first half of the season before Edwards arrives for the second part, and will bolster a seam attack that already includes Kabir Ali, new signing Simon Jones and recovered Australian Matthew Mason.
Magoffin, 28, has enjoyed a fine domestic season for Western Australia, taking 14 wickets at 27 apiece in the Pura Cup and he has also taken 124 first-class wickets.
He was at Surrey for a short spell last year as a replacement for Matthew Nicholson, and he took four for 58 in a Friends Provident Trophy game against Kent.
Worcestershire saw attempts to sign Shane Bond, Umar Gul and Ashley Noffke beaten back before the county was able to secure the services of Edwards and Magoffin.
