Maharoof Out As Pakistan Call Up Uncapped Spinners

Sri Lankan all-rounder Farveez Maharoof has been ruled out of the Asia Cup while Pakistan have named two uncapped spinners in their squad for the tournament which begins tomorrow (Tuesday 24th).

An abdominal strain has ruled Maharoof, who has struggled with injuries over the last year and he picked up the injury on Friday. Thilan Thushara has been called up as his replacement.

Meanwhile, Pakistan confirmed their 15-man squad with uncapped spinners Saeed Ajmal and Mansoor Amjad joining Fawad Alam and Shahid Afridi in a spin-heavy line up.

Young wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed was also included at the expense of Kamran Akmal.

Day one of the tournament sees Pakistan take on Hong Kong in Lahore and Bangladesh play the United Arab Emirates in Karachi.
