Nuwan Kulasekara will assume the vice-captaincy of the Sri Lankan Twenty20 International team as Lasith Malinga and Mahela Jayawardene are rested for the one-off game against New Zealand in Pallekele on 30th October.

New captain Angelo Mathews will take charge of the team while Ajantha Mendis is not included in the 13-man squad due to injury.

The young squad includes spinner Akila Dananjaya, who made his debut during the ICC World Twenty20 as well as Sachitra Senanayake.

Pacer Shaminda Eranga makes the squad having played just one T20I before and batsman Dilshan Munaweera has a chance of making his third T20I appearance.

With Malinga and Jayawardene absent, the only other change from the ICC World Twenty20 squad is Senanayake replacing left-arm spinner Rangana Herath.
