Fast bowler Mark Footitt has been allowed to leave Nottinghamshire having been unable to force his way into the first team this season.
The 23-year-old, who has played nine first-class matches for Nottinghamshire, has been given the opportunity to find another county after a spell at Trent Bridge that has been marred by injuries.
Director of Cricket Mick Newell commented: “It’s a shame things haven’t worked out for Mark, but hopefully he will have the opportunity to go on trial with another county before the end of the season and get a fresh start.
“I’d like to thank Mark for his efforts over the past five years and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Footit appeared for Nottinghamshire against Oxford UCCE but has not played since and the bowler has hardly played since taking four for 45 on his first-class debut against Glamorgan in 2005.
Injuries meant he was forced to cut short an England Under-19 tour in 2004/5 and a winter with the ECB National Academy in 2005/6.
