New Zealand have made one change to their team that beat England by 189 runs in the first Test in Hamilton with fast bowler Mark Gillespie replacing spinner Jeetan Patel for the second match in Wellington.

Gillespie was a late call-up to the squad for the opening Test after Iain O'Brien suffered a toe injury but didn't make the side as New Zealand went for a double spin attack with Daniel Vettori and Patel in the side.

With the ball expected to move about on a green-tinged Basin Reserve strip, Gillespie is likely to operate as first change with Kyle Mills and Chris Martin due to open the bowling again.

It will be Gillespie's second Test cap after his first appearance in South Africa where he took match figures of five for 136.

New Zealand: Daniel Vettori (captain), Matthew Bell, Jamie How, Stephen Fleming, Ross Taylor, Mathew Sinclair, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum, Kyle Mills, Mark Gillespie, Chris Martin
