Marsa CC's 11th series of matches against touring sides this year ended with a tie against the Honourable Artillery Company Cricket Club, who were on their second tour of Malta.

In their first tour they won both games they played but this time couldn't quite emulate their previous achievement.

The first Twenty20 game was played on the Friday afternoon. The home side batted first and made a very reasonable total of 150 runs, Frank Spiteri top scoring with 47 which include six fours and a six.

Niraj Khanna batted well for 30 which included two sixes. Nowell Khosla, who opened the innings did well, making 27.

The Marsa team were happy enough only losing four wickets which included the run out of Spiteri. For HAC Henry Faj took two wickets and H.Edd took one.

The Marsa team could only manage to take three wickets as the visitors stormed home to victory with an over to spare.

For HAC M.Matthieu opened and top scored with 56 runs. His opening partner J.Huxtable made 47 and set the stage for their team. T.Tom then made 19 and Alex Houghen 10 while there were 19 extras in what was a good win for the visitors.

On Saturday  a 40-over game was played and HAC batted first. S.Stuart batted well for 54, Henry Faj made 29 and H.Haines made 25.

Late in the innings R.Hickman managed 21. After such a great start the HAC batsmen fell apart and only managed to total 176.

The Marsa team bowled and fielded very well with Malcolm Crabbe taking two wickets and two catches, Ronnie Sacco taking three wickets, Gordon Hewitt and Sarfraz Ali taking a couple wickets each and Sid Anand taking one. John Grima behind the stumps took three catches.

After losing the first three wickets for a combined total of 22 runs, Ronnie Sacco began to steady the ship with 25 runs. John Grima (36) and Malcolm Crabbe (43) put on a 49-run partnership which gave the upper hand to the home side.

Losing the wicket of Nowell Khosla (14) had the home side worrying only to find Niraj Khanna cool under pressure finishing off the required runs making 17.

For HAC  G.Williams took three wickets, Henry Faj took two while R.Hickman and J.Huxtable took a wicket each as Marsa fought back to tie the series.

Next weekend the Malta Cricket Association is organising a Level 1 Coaching course. On Saturday the Sunoco Cricket Academy/nursery will be from 9:00 till 10:30am
