Sahara Pune WarriorsGeoff Marsh and Dermot Reeve will link up as coach and assistant coach of the Sahara Pune Warriors - one of two new teams which will compete in the Indian Premier League from 2011.

Former Australian international and coach of both Australia and Zimbabwe Marsh played 50 Tests for Australia before guiding them to the 1999 World Cup as coach.

Reeve, capped three times in Tests and 29 times in One-Day Internationals for England, was until recently head coach of the Central Districts in New Zealand.

Team owner Subrata Roy, at the announcement in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, said:

"For any team, coaches are the most important part and we are delighted to have Australian opener Geoff Marsh as head coach of Sahara Pune Warriors and former Englan all-rounder Dermot Reeve as his deputy.

"We sat with eight coaches of whom two were Indians, but selection was based on the merit, background of the coaches, their achievements as a players and coach and their coaching abilities. I am hopeful that they are really going to contribute for us."

He added that his team will recruit players from Uttar Pradesh as a priority ahead of making their debut in the 2011 season, the format for which has yet to be decided.

The other new team for the fourth season of the Twenty20 league will be based in or near Kochi.
