Sri Lanka will have to make do without the services of key all-rounder Angelo Mathews for the remainder of the Asia Cup after he suffered a calf injury.

He is set to return to Colombo and make a bid to be fit for the England Test series, which begins in Galle on 26th March.

"Angelo has not pulled through fitness tests well, so we made a call to send him back home," captain Mahela Jayawardene said.

"He will try to get ready for the Test matches. The selectors back home will decide and send a replacement for us."

Sri Lanka opened their tournament with a 50-run defeat to India and play Pakistan in a crucial encounter before meeting the hosts, Bangladesh.

Mathews also missed the Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia due to injury and has struggled to remain a permanent fixture in the side due to injuries since making his debut in 2009.
