Tino Mawoyo became the third Zimbabwean to carry his bat as bowlers continued to struggle on day two of the only Test between Zimbabwe and Pakistan in Bulawayo.
Mawoyo made a highly impressive 163 not out as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 412 but Pakistan showed their strength by closing on an imposing 116 for one with Mohammad Hafeez unbeaten on 79.
Mawoyo faced 453 balls, hitting 20 fours in a marathon innings as he steered Zimbabwe to a good total with useful contributions coming from Craig Ervine (49) and Greg Lamb (39) before four wickets apiece from Aizaz Cheema and Saeed Ajmal finally earned Pakistan a chance to bat after 150.4 overs.
They quickly lost the wicket of Taufeeq Umar, who was trapped in front by Kyle Jarvis but Hafeez and Azhar Ali (27 not out) put on an unbroken stand of 108 for the second wicket.
The only other Zimbabweans to have carried their bat in Tests - Mark Dekker and Grant Flower - also achieved the feat against Pakistan.
