112 years after England beat France to win the 1900 Olympics gold medal in Paris, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) will take on the France national side this weekend.

Whereas at the turn of the previous century, all of the players in the French team were English, these two matches serve as preparation for France's ICC World Cricket League Division Eight campaign.

The MCC team will be captained by Steve Livermore and includes former Somerset wicket-keeper Rob Turner and Chris Hollins of the BBC, who is also a former first-class cricketer.

A Twenty20 match will take place on Saturday 16th June before a 50 over game on Sunday 17th June at Chateau de Thoiry. Back in 1900, the game was a two-day affair.

Lord's, home of the MCC, will be hosting the archery competiton during London 2012.
