West Indian all-rounder Kevin McClean is keen to make a big impression at the ICC Champions Trophy, which takes place later this month.
21-year-old McClean was drafted into the West Indies' 15-man squad after an injury ruled out Daren Powell despite having not played a List A game of cricket.
“This is a really big opportunity for me and I’m really excited," he said. "This is like a dream for me. I am eager to perform for the West Indies. The Champions Trophy is a major international event and I’m just looking to make the most of every opportunity.
“I was part of the squad for the series against Bangladesh and I learned a lot. I have also gained a lot of knowledge during the camp here in Barbados and I’m enjoying the hard work. I would like to get an opportunity in the Champions Trophy to display my skills.”
The West Indies team will depart for South Africa on Saturday ahead of warm-up matches against South Africa and Sri Lanka on the 18th and 20th September.
They then play Pakistan, Australia and India in Group A of the tournament.
