New Zealand all-rounder Nathan McCullum has been hospitalised just a day before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 gets underway.

The off-spinner and lower-order batsman reported he was felling unwell and after it was discovered that he had a high temperature, he was taken to hospital in Chennai.

He remains under observation although his condition has improved and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) expect him to be discharged on 19th February.

New Zealand begin their campaign against Kenya on Sunday (20th February) and a decision on whether McCullum is fit to feature will be made closer to the game.

McCullum, who has played 19 One-Day Internationals for New Zealand, was selected for both warm-up games - against Ireland and India.

New Zealand are 1/16 to beat Kenya in their opening match and are 22/1 to win the tournament with .
