Middlesex Cricket have acquired the services of New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee for the upcoming season of Natwest T20 Blast.
The 28-year-old will be the second overseas signing for the club joining his former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum and has vast experience in the shortest format where he has played 126 matches, picking 139 wickets.
Southee is expected to join the club in July and will be available for the entire South Group matches and also the knock out games, if Middlesex reach there.
Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket Angus Fraser is delighted in having the Black Caps seamer for the 2017 campaign.
“Tim is one of the leading fast bowlers in the world. He has plenty of experience in T20 cricket and looks to bowl in the periods where we feel we could be better.
“We look forward to welcoming him to Lord's.”
Meanwhile, Southee, who is currently playing for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League is hoping to help Middlesex in their quest for the title.
“I'm excited to be joining Middlesex this year for the NatWest T20 blast and helping the club throughout the T20 competition.
“When the opportunity come up to play for Middlesex it wasn't a tough decision to make and I'm looking forward to calling Lords home while I'm there.”
