Middlesex have signed fast bowler Toby Roland-Jones after he impressed in 2009 playing for the Bradford/Leeds UCCE and Middlesex and Surrey second teams.

He recorded figures of five for 81 playing against Derbyshire and plays for Sunbury CC.

Middlesex Managing Director of Cricket Angus Fraser told the club's official website (www.middlesexccc.com):

"Toby made a positive impression during his limited appearances with Middlesex's Second Eleven in 2009. Last season he was the outstanding fast bowler in University cricket and comes from a club, Sunbury CC, which continues to provide Middlesex with talented cricketers. He has a good, strong, high, simple action and I believe he has the potential to become a very good bowler."

Middlesex have already signed opening batsman Scott Newman and left-arm spinner Tom Smith while seven other players have signed new contracts in the close season.

Nick Compton, Murali Kartik and Alan Richardson have left the county, however.
