Middlesex Supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer In 2007
The Twenty20 Cup zonal rounds take place between 22nd June and 6th July this summer. At all four of Middlesex’s home matches, including two at Lord’s Cricket Ground in conjunction with MCC, Breakthrough volunteers will be collecting donations from spectators and Breakthrough wristbands will be sold throughout the ground for a suggested donation.
Full details of Middlesex’s support will be announced on Monday 30th April, when all of Middlesex’s England stars will be back from the World Cup and available. Look out for further information over the coming weeks.
Middlesex’s Twenty20 shirt and cap will also be launched on the 30th April – for every replica sold this year a donation of £5 and £2 respectively, will be made to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Vinny Codrington, MCCC Chief Executive, said '' It's fantastic for Middlesex CCC to be involved in this new and innovative way to help raise funds and awareness of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. We all hope the partnership is a roaring success and will raise lots of money for the charity’s vital research, campaigning and education work.''
Owais Shah, Middlesex CCC and England, said of the announcement: ''The players are a hundred percent behind this initiative and are delighted that Middlesex CCC has formed a partnership with Breakthrough Breast Cancer. There are many more exciting details yet to be announced and the team can’t wait.”
Sarah Tedder, Head of Community Fundraising for Breakthrough, added: “Nearly 44,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, so it affects a huge number of families each year. The funds raised from this partnership with Middlesex County Cricket Club will help Breakthrough move one step further to its vision of a future free from the fear of Breast Cancer.”
Middlesex’s outground matches in 2007 will take place on Monday 25th June at The Walker Ground, Southgate, against Hampshire and Wednesday 27th June at Uxbridge Cricket Club against Kent.
The two matches at Lord’s Cricket Ground will take place on Tuesday 3rd July against Surrey and Friday 6th July against Essex, when we anticipate sell out crowds for both matches. For further details of how to buy tickets early for these matches, please see www.lords.org or call 0207 432 1000.
