India 616-5 declared (Jaffer 202, Laxman 112no, Ganguly 102) v
Pakistan 358-6 (Akmal 119, Misbah 108no) in Kolkata
Scorecard
India lead the three-match series 1-0

A double century partnership between Misbah-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal helped prevent Pakistan from collapsing in reply to India's 616 for five declared on day three of the second Test in Kolkata.

The pair came together at 150 for five after India removed Salman Butt (42), Younus Khan (43), Mohammad Yousuf (six) and Faisal Iqbal (nought) leaving Pakistan odds-on favourites to have to follow on.

Akmal registered his fifth Test hundred before Misbah scored his maiden century with a flick off his pads for his tenth boundary.

Akmal was dismissed shortly before the close by Harbhajan Singh, who produced a fine delivery that spun back sharply from outside the off stump to bowl the wicket-keeper, breaking a sixth-wicket partnership worth 207.
