Misbah-ul-Haq scored an unbeaten 66 and captain Shoaib Malik scored 52 as Pakistan took a six-wicket win over Australia in their Super Eight Group F match in Johannesburg.

After a solid, if not, brilliant, performance with the ball had left them 165 to chase, the pair shared an unbeataen stand of 119 to bring their side home after Australia had struck early to reduce Pakistan to 46 for 4.

Earlier, Mike Hussey (37) and Brad Hodge (36) top scored and Sohail Tanvir took three for 31 as no batsman could cut loose and make a telling score as there was a wicket each for Mohammad Asif, Shahid Afridi, and Mohammad Hafeez as Australia scored 164 for 6 from their 20 overs.

Adam Gilchrist threatened to blitz the Pakistan bowlers, racing to 24 from 11 balls before he became Tanvir's second victim.
