Kenya 201-3 (Mishra 70no) beat
Ireland 200 (Obuya 3-24) by seven wickets
First One-Day International, Mombasa
Kenya scored an important seven-wicket victory over Ireland in the first of two One-Day Internationals in Mombasa as Tanmay Mishra cracked an unbeaten half-century.
Mishra's 70 not out in 76 balls eased Kenya to a target of 201 in the 43rd over after three wickets from Collins Obuya saw Ireland dismissed for 200.
Paul Stirling (46) and Kevin O'Brien (39) top scored for the tourists but two wickets apiece from Shem and James Ngoche kept the Irish batsmen under pressure.
Nehemiah Odhiambo , Hiren Varaiya and Rakep Patel also took a wicket apiece as Ireland were bowled out in 47.3 overs.
David Obuya (20), Duncan Allen (15) and Collins Obuya (29) then fell cheaply as a wicket apiece for George Dockrell and John Mooney gave Ireland hope of a fightback.
However, despite Kenya falling to 101 for three, a fightback did not materialise as an unbeaten 100 partnership between Mishra and Patel, who made 42 not out, saw Kenya home to a convincing win.
